March is a magical season to celebrate renewal and rebirth. During bountiful March, we celebrate the first day of Spring! Those of you who have followed me in the past few years know that Spring equates with Ostara, the ancient celebration of the Vernal Equinox, the halfway point between the Winter and Summer Solstices. We are finally emerging from the long slumber of winter into a season bursting with new growth, abundance and fertility. The energy is expansive and exuberant! You may find that you have an extra hop in your step as the days grow longer and the warming sun gives you a burst of energy and a lifting of your spirits! This time of new fertility brings with it renewed passions, artistic expression, and creativity. Go with the flow, experiment and perhaps discover a new endeavor!
Green is supreme this season. The color green is the color of nature, growth, freshness, energy, and fertility. The color green balances our energies, increases love, empathy and compassion. Green symbolizes good health and reminds us to pause and breathe deeply and take in the bountiful blessings of Mother Earth. Green is the dawn of a new season, the first pop of color that delights our senses with the fresh promise of spring. Clovers and leprechauns, equating with luck and wealth are both green for a reason! Green is also the color of the heart chakra. From an emotional perspective, green offers peace and nurturing and finding a balance between head and heart. This green theme is the foundation for our featured collection. Our product collection this month features a green superfood botanical ally, green tea and its kissing cousin, matcha. Both matcha and green tea are derived from the same plant called Camellia Sinensis. While green tea leaves usually come in the form of a tea bag (although I prefer loose leaf always!), matcha is in powder form. Matcha is actually 100% green tea leaves that have been ground into a fine powder. It is much more concentrated than regular green tea, and the matcha bushes are kept under cover to increase the chlorophyll and amino acid levels in the leaves. Nutritionally, matcha has 10x the nutritional value of regular green tea and a whopping 137x the amount of antioxidants! A superfood indeed!
