In mythology, Uranus (Ouranos/Caelus) was one of the primordial Titans, the Roman Sky God, the personification of heaven and sky, and the first ruler of the Universe. Fatherless, Ouranus was conceived by Gaia (Mother Earth) alone, became the father of all the other Titans, and was responsible for the creation of the first life on Earth. Uranus was a cruel father, hated his offspring and refused to allow them to leave the womb in Gaia's body. Cronus, with Gaia's help, castrated Uranus and led the Titan rebellion against him.
