The wide swath of gauzy glow stretching across our night sky is the Milky Way, the galaxy to which our solar system belongs. For ancient cultures, this band of stars vividly cleaved the night sky. It has been known by many names since the dawn of time and has played a role in countless myths and legends.
Many cultures saw in the Milky Way a road traveled by either the sun or the gods. Some ancient stories consider the Milky Way as more than just a road, but a conduit between this world and the next. The name "Heavenly Seam" interprets the Milky Way as a cosmic bridge or seam that joins pieces of fabric, one that links all realms of existence - the earthly realm, the heavens, and the afterlife.
Our spiral-shaped galaxy is a hundred thousand light years across and contains over 100 billion stars. The Milky Way is mostly visible when light pollution is at a minimum. Modern astronomers have placed the Milky Way in a vast network of neighbouring galaxies or "supercluster" containing 100,000 large galaxies. Named Laniakea, meaning "immeasurable heaven" in Hawaiian, an appropos name to describe the vastness of the Universe in which we exist....one tiny planet in one single galaxy amongst billions of stars and planets in an incredible network of unknown galaxies.

The Heavenly Seam Artisan Botanical Soap
Handmade soaps need to breathe! We recommend storing your soap on a slatted or free draining soap dish so that it can air dry in between uses.
- Remove botanical toppings prior to use.
- Don't allow your soap to sit in a puddle of water.
- Use a wash cloth, loofah or soap saver bag to extend the life of your soap bar.
- Use your soap bar within one year of purchase. I know they're pretty to look at, but they're intended to be used so enjoy them! :)
- Store unused soap out of direct sunlight and away from extreme temperature fluctuations and high humidity conditions.
- You may experience colored lather with dark or brightly colored bars; however, no permanent staining should occur.
- Discontinue use if irritation occurs
- Soaps are for external use only & are not edible
