Winter is on my head, but eternal spring is in my heart; I breathe at this hour the fragrance of the lilacs, the violets, and the roses, as at twenty years ago.

Victor Hugo

The spring is fresh and fearless
And every leaf is new,
The world is brimmed with moonlight,
The lilac brimmed with dew.
Here in the moving shadows
I catch my breath and sing -
My heart is fresh and fearless
And over-brimmed with spring.

May Night by Sara Teasdale

One thing I miss about living in the Midwest is the abundance of lilacs in the Spring! Lilacs are one of those childhood plants that are firmly planted in your olfactory memories...our sense of smell resides deep in our limbic system, in the most primordial part of our brain, where both emotions and memories are stored. Smelling a lilac brings you back to Grandma's house, back to warm afternoons when the air tasted sweet.

They're pretty hard to find in the South...I guess they're not too fond of the humidity. I have a spindly little Korean lilac in my backyard that I rescued from the Lowe's clearance rack some years ago, but those blooms are nothing like a traditional lilac. (yeah, those blooms you see in the second pic are the rampantly available wisteria, not lilac; and obviously not lilacs in the first one either!)

With this beautiful bar, you can transport yourself to your favorite garden where lilacs grow in profusion! Sumptuously sweet freesia and heady jasmine wrapped around romantically floral lilac with top notes of lush greenery. Indulge yourself in floral elegance!

We've topped her with a sprinkling of delicate cornflower petals in a rainbow of colors and sea salt.

Garden Lilac Artisan Botanical Soap

$9.00Price
  • Handmade soaps need to breathe! We recommend storing your soap on a slatted or free draining soap dish so that it can air dry in between uses.

    • Remove botanical toppings prior to use.
    • Don't allow your soap to sit in a puddle of water.
    • Use a wash cloth, loofah or soap saver bag to extend the life of your soap bar.
    • Use your soap bar within one year of purchase. I know they're pretty to look at, but they're intended to be used so enjoy them! :)
    • Store unused soap out of direct sunlight and away from extreme temperature fluctuations and high humidity conditions.
