The popularity of the revered iris has certainly stood the test of time. Throughout the ages, the iris has been used as a symbol of important messages. In Greek mythology, the winged goddess, Iris, was the divine messenger of the Gods and used rainbows as a portal between the earthly mortal realm and that of the heavens. She was also known to carry female souls from earth to heaven, and even today, purple irises are planted on women’s graves.
 
The stately iris is also said to have been the inspiration for the Fleur de Lis - that iconic symbol of French royalty. In scripture and religious literature, the lily symbolizes purity and chastity also helped establish the flower as an iconographic attribute of the Virgin Mary; the trio of petals reflect its association with the Holy Trinity, with the band on the bottom symbolizing Mary. 
 
In the Victorian Language of Flowers, iris symbolism depends upon the color. Yellow irises symbolize passion, purple irises symbolize royalty and wisdom, blue irises symbolize faith and hope, and white irises symbolize purity.

Usage: Spray lightly, paying particular attention to pulse points, neck, behind ears, chest/heart chakra, inner elbows, behind knees. Allow to air dry; do NOT rub. Repeat as desired. Do not spray directly onto face. Avoid contact with eyes, armpits and mucous membranes. Do not apply to broken, irritated, or itching skin. May be skin sensitizing to some individuals. Perform a 24hr patch test on a small area of skin if you are particularly prone to sensitivity before widespread application. Discontinue use immediately if any irritation occurs. Not intended for use by children under age 10.
