If you see a fairy ring

In a field of grass,

Very lightly step around,

Tiptoe as you pass;

Last night fairies frolicked there,

And they're sleeping somewhere near.

If you see a tiny fay

Lying fast asleep,

Shut your eyes and run away,

Do not stay or peep;

And be sure you never tell,

Or you'll break a fairy spell.

-Shakespeare

Fairy rings - circular formations of mushrooms in the grass - have captured human imagination for centuries. Across the globe, these enigmatic natural circles are deeply embedded in ancient myths, supernatural lore, and cultural superstitions. For thousands of years, peoples of various cultures have regarded fairy rings with a strong sense of curiosity and fear, believing them to be mystical, supernatural places. Folklore tells us that cultures across Europe have traditionally believed that fairy rings are the dwelling place of fairies, elves, and other magical beings– and that in some cases, they may be dangerous to enter. Even though fairy rings were thought to be little realms where fairies dance and play, lore suggested that if a human interrupted the fun, the cost could be deadly serious. What could possibly be so serious about stepping inside a ring of mushrooms? Well, according to many English and Celtic tales, any human who enters a fairy ring will be forced to dance with the creatures, unable to stop until they go mad or perish of exhaustion. But that may be the least of your problems! You may find upon exiting that fairy ring that 100 years have passed in the blink of an eye and everyone you've ever known is long dead and gone. Or perhaps you'll be released from the Otherworld with an unlucky hex that fills the rest of your earthly days with strife and suffering.  Best heed those warnings and steer clear of any fairy rings with a healthy dose of respect!

  • Less is more! Start with one spritz. You can always add more...later. Spray clouds are a waste of money!

    Apply directly to skin where body heat will help bloom and project the scent. May apply to hair. Do not apply to clothes.

    Apply only to clean (freshly showered) skin. Fragrance clings best to warm skin and sticks poorly to oily skin.  Best practice is to apply lotion first (unscented or neutral scent or see our tips on layering) as moisturized skin holds notes longer.

    Spritz ONLY from 5-7 inches away. Do NOT rub! Do NOT dab.

    Keep in mind that scent is highly personal and interacts with individual body chemistry. A perfume may even smell different on your body from season to season.
