In mythology cauldrons are known to be powerful, magical vesels. The cauldron symbolically represents the four elements and alchemy- fire to heat it, herbs from the Earth, water to boil the herbs, and the resulting steam represents air. In witchcraft, the cauldron represents the womb of the mother goddess, symbol of the creation of life. Witches use the cauldron to prepare magical mixtures, mixing herbs and various substances to create potions - often healing, but not always!
