The autumn equinox represents the first day of fall in the Northern Hemisphere (Sept 22). It marks a pivotal moment in the year, when day and night fall into perfect symmetry, offering a moment of cosmic balance. It is a time to stop and notice the delights in abundance around us – hedges jam-packed full of blackberries, trees laden with apples, and fungi poking their heads through the ground. In Greek legend, Persephone – daughter of harvest goddess Demeter – is taken into the underworld by Hades at the Equinox, where she must remain until the Spring Equinox. Demeter’s sorrow at her daughter’s absence causes the crops to wither, leading us into the darker days of fall and winter. Soon the unmistakable whisper of the autumn winds will dance through the leafy crowns and the kaleidoscope of colorful leaves will flutter to the ground. The most magickal season of all!

Our Equinox candle embraces the autumnal aesthetic in a sturdy frosted amber tumbler with wooden lid that offers the perfect ambiance amongst your fall decor. We've scented Equinox in an atmospheric blend that opens with a breath of fresh green leaves and crisp orchard pear. A heart of succulent plum is elevated by cinnamon and sweet sugar. A subtle wisp of smoke enhances the richness of sandalwood in the base of this spellbinding scent. Warm, cozy, and emblematic of the season.

As with any candle, size matters! Small candles are best suited for small rooms with normal ceiling height. Think bathrooms or smaller sized bedrooms. The larger the room size, the larger the candle(s). Consider the 8-10 rule: for scent to permeate the entire room, position one 8oz candle for every 10ft of room radius. It’s all about discovering the perfect match between your candle and your room. Remember to allow your candle, no matter the size, to burn for at least one hour, or until the wax pool reaches the edge of the container, to prevent tunneling. We ALWAYS recommend that you ensure a FULL MELT POOL on your first burn of any candle (that means the wax is completely melted to the edges of the container). Candles have a memory and the first burn is crucial to the candle's future performance throughout its life. Don't limit your candle's potential!

To get the optimum lifespan and burn time from this handcrafted candle, please observe these candle care tips:

On first lighting, burn for a minimum of 2 hours OR until entire top is fully melted to edges.
For subsequent lightings, always burn until a 1/4" deep melt pool is achieved.
When extinguishing, ensure the wick is straight and centered.
ALWAYS keep wick trimmed to a max of 1/4" before lighting.
Do not allow ash or dust to accumulate in melt pool.
Only light candles on a flat, even, heatproof surface. Rotate regularly to ensure an even melt pool.
Do NOT move candle while burning.
Keep out of direct sunlight.
Abide by safety instructions on bottom of container.
