The Fair Folk, the Wee Ones, the Fae - all names we've used to call the magickal beings of the fairy world. Those names would lead one to believe that all fairies are Tinkerbell-like beings with wings and sparkles, who giggle as they flit about the flowers. Well, that MAY be one type.... but it's not the only type, and not the type you will likely encounter if you call upon the fae.
Once upon a time, humans and the fae lived together. But humans, who always have feared what they can't understand, started a war with the faery folk and thus launched a disastrous chapter in our history. The fae retreated and created their own world, parallel to this one. While some fae still willingly work with us humans (the Light or the Seelie Court, in Scottish lore), there are those who have never gotten over their contempt and outright hatred of humans. These are the dark fae (the Unseelie) and they are malicious, spiteful beings that cannot be reasoned with. Unconstrained by human morality, these faeries are erratic and driven more by whims than by any sense of justice or equity. Truthfully, any faery being is dangerous when crossed, to different extents, according to their natures. In the end, dark faeries are a potent metaphor for the mysterious and frequently dangerous forces that lurk just outside of our field of vision. They force us to face our anxieties and accept the darker sides of the world and ourselves that we may otherwise want to avoid.
Our Dark Faery blend opens with crisp apple, ripe plum and raspberry - a bright, jammy start that transforms as we sink into the spicy heart, dripping with warm caramel. Patchouli and dark amber cloak the fruits in simmering warmth and depth. A quiet shadow of white musk brings a subtle glow to the finish. Rich, juicy, and made for after-dark.
