Those of us of a certain age bracket (ahem, looking at you, Gen Z!) will fondly recall the wonder of seeing Jim Henson's Dark Crystal play out in the theater for the first time. The movie's an eerie blend of ancient dark fantasy, prophesies, groundbreaking animatronic puppetry, and a glowing, overgrown alien world. This movie spoke to our very souls.... and might just be why so many of us are now taking comfort in witchcraft! The 2019 series, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (which I have yet to see, TBH!), created by Henson's daughter, Lisa Henson, in partnership with the Frouds, touches on themes of climate change, corruption, exploitation, institutional manipulation, bigotry, and historical divides. Oh gee, why does that sound familiar?!
Our Dark Crystal candle embraces the mystical aesthetic in a purple glass tumbler topped with a trio of raw amethyst crystal points. We've scented Dark Crystal in a mesmerizing blend of orange zest and muddled blackberries, accented by spicy clove and cinnamon and the spicy/sweet twang of anise. The unexpected, yet exhilarating, sharp contrast of black spruce in the heart of this scent casts us deep into the shadows of the forest. REMOVE CRYSTALS BEFORE LIGHTING CANDLE
As with any candle, size matters! Small candles are best suited for small rooms with normal ceiling height. Think bathrooms or smaller sized bedrooms. The larger the room size, the larger the candle(s). Consider the 8-10 rule: for scent to permeate the entire room, position one 8oz candle for every 10ft of room radius. It’s all about discovering the perfect match between your candle and your room. Remember to allow your candle, no matter the size, to burn for at least one hour, or until the wax pool reaches the edge of the container, to prevent tunneling. We ALWAYS recommend that you ensure a FULL MELT POOL on your first burn of any candle (that means the wax is completely melted to the edges of the container). Candles have a memory and the first burn is crucial to the candle's future performance throughout its life. Don't limit your candle's potential!
