Brigid is the most iconic deity of the early spring season. Imbolc (celebrated on Feb 1st) and its rituals are closely associated with the Goddess Brigid, a triple goddess of healing, fertility, childbirth, poetry, inspiration, and blacksmithing. Her triple goddess aspect is different than the traditional Maiden/Mother/Crone, and instead reflect her three distinct roles as the Lady of the Healing Waters, Goddess of the Sacred Flame, and Goddess of the Fertile Earth. Brigid's influence is wide and multifaceted - from Celtic worship to Christian sainthood. She is known as the patron of poets, midwives, blacksmiths, dairymaids, and scholars. Associated with fertility and fire, known as the keeper of the sacred flame, and celebrated as the guardian of home and hearth, celebrating and honoring Brigid can include bonfires, candle services, and other fire rituals around the hearth or outside the home.
