The Celtic Goddess Brigid is a radiant presence associated with spring and fertility. Brigid is linked to the Sun, representing her role as a bringer of light, warmth, and growth. Her energy is particularly potent during Imbolc (Feb 1st), a festival marking the beginning of spring and celebrating her influence over the return of light and life. There is a legend about Brigid's cloak wherein Brigid uses her magick to grow her cloak so large that it covers enough land for her to build her temple at Kildare. There is an Irish tradition is called the Brat Bhríde, meaning, yes, you guessed it, ‘Brigid's Cloak’. The "cloak" is a little piece of cloth or ribbon you leave on your windowsill, beside your door, or in your garden for Brigid to bless as she travels by with her coven of holy women and her white cow with red ears, a Celtic symbol of the Otherworld and of the Goddess. It is believed that this ritual will ward off illness for both the human and animal world for the year ahead and can be used for any healing petition from Brigid.
Our Brigid's Cloak bars carry such a sweet and fresh vibe! A spring green base with delicate swirls of gold, green, and white (a butterfly swirl!) for subtle contrast. We've topped each bar with dried calendula blossoms, pressed daisies, and a sprinkling of smaller white florals. The aromatic palette is a fragrant buzz of sweet sticky honey, fresh peaches, rose petals, and grounding sandalwood and light musk. Sweetly floral without being cloying. We've added raw local honey and real buttermilk to the base for an extra creamy bubblicious treat that will feel like silk on your skin. (Butter, milk and honey are traditional associations and offerings for Brigid. We have infused this soap with layers of Brigid symbolism.)
We encourage you to bathe ritually with this bar to invoke Brigid's presence and to honor her as part of your Imbolc rituals.
