Do you know the story of Aqua Tofana? It has quite the curious history! Way back in Renaissance Italy in the early 17th century, there lived a folk shero by the name of Giulia Tofana who opened a little cosmetics and perfumery store. Giulia had a secret mission to free her fellow womenfolk from the trappings of their abusive marriages, and she accomplished her mission by creating a unique brand of poison she named Aqua Tofana, disguised in little glass vials adorned with images of saints and sold as a healing elixir. The formula to Giula's potion has long been lost to history, but is thought to have been a combination of belladonna, arsenic, and lead; the potion was odorless, colorless, tasteless, and virtually undetectable. When administered at low dosages, its slow-acting effects easily mimicked the progression of natural disease, but the potion was potent enough to kill in one dose when necessary. With a dependable referral system firmly established, it is said that over 600 men were poisoned to death over the 30+ years that Tofana was in business. Giulia was eventually caught when one of her clients suffered a crisis of conscience, but it is said by some that Giulia was never executed for her crimes, but instead sentenced to live out her natural life in a convent (some accounts disagree).
Aqua Tofana offered a sliver of hope to women in a century where the men controlled every aspect of their lives and women were treated (mostly mistreated and abused!) as property. The women, however, were never entirely powerless as they had the power of their community, their sisterhood of support, and the power of secrecy and vigilante justice on their side.
Our Aqua Tofana perfume is a dark, sultry, and spicy blend that will tempt your rebellious side. It opens with flirtatious innocence - bright bergamot, jasmine, & rose - and warms into a sultry heart of patchouli, black peppercorn, clove, ginger, anise & cinnamon. The finish is swathed in smooth sandalwood, creamy vanilla, and dark animalic musk. Perfect for late-night rendevous and midnight wanderings in a dark cloak. We'll never tell.

Usage: Spray lightly, paying particular attention to pulse points, neck, behind ears, chest/heart chakra, inner elbows, behind knees. Allow to air dry; do NOT rub. Repeat as desired. Do not spray directly onto face. Avoid contact with eyes, armpits and mucous membranes. Do not apply to broken, irritated, or itching skin. May be skin sensitizing to some individuals. Perform a 24hr patch test on a small area of skin if you are particularly prone to sensitivity before widespread application. Discontinue use immediately if any irritation occurs. Not intended for use by children under age 10.
